Increasing Community Capacity

Following the submission of a formal tender response, Fieldform were appointed by Watlington Parish Council to break out an existing macadam sports court and construct a new, multi-use sports facility.

The existing facility suffered with drainage issues and didn’t offer a suitable facility for the local community including resident sports clubs. To create a facility that could be used throughout the year by a wide range of users we put forward a design that offered the following:

• Significantly expanded playing area – suitable for a range of sports including small sided football and netball
• Twin layer macadam surface
• Rubber shock pad
• Sand dressed synthetic surface – Desso Trophy Smart V2
• Line markings for multiple sports including football, netball and basketball
• LED floodlights
• Heavy duty twin bar fence c/w rebound panels at ground level
• Installation of commercial grade timber kick boards to protect the fence against the impact of high speed hockey balls

This project has created a vital space that is regularly used by local community groups including Watlington Football Club, Smur-Fit and Watlington Netball Club.

Through careful design we managed to keep all the spoil arisings on site using the excess soil to create a series of landscaped bunds around the new MUGA.
