Fieldform were appointed by Salesians of Don Bosco UK, to act as independent consultants in an observation and monitoring role during the construction of a new natural turf sports field, on behalf of Salesian School, Chertsey. The development was an agreement between the school and housing developer, and designed to provide the school with compliant Sport England Type Four winter sports pitches, playable by the summer of 2020.
Fieldform were appointed to provide observation and monitoring support of the works at key stages of construction and report to the school directly over matters of design and quality assurance. This was communicated by way of written site reports, video reports and site meetings with the key stake holders, contractors and funding groups.
The scope of works undertaken included:
I. Removal of existing grass sward
II. Topsoil excavation & stockpile
III. Subsoil earthworks of cut to fill
IV. Topsoil replacement, and initial grading
V. Trimming, light consolidation and final grading
VI. Installation of primary drainage
VII. Initial cultivations and sand amelioration
VIII. Final cultivations, application of pre-seed fertiliser and seeding
IX. Establishment and maintenance package
The project began in the later summer of 2019 achieving seeding by late Autumn following which the establishment and maintenance phase will commence during the spring of 2020.
