Natural Turf Renovation Works

In 2024, Fieldform were appointed by South Swindon Parish Council (SSPC) to carry out Spring renovations on several natural turf football pitches at Buckhurst Sports Field, works included:

• Application of selective herbicide weedkiller
• Initial cut and collect using our tractor mounted Amazone Groundkeeper
• Carry out a verti-cut and scarification to reduce sward and remove thatch content
• Aeration and soil decompaction
• Top dressing
• Application of granular fertiliser
• Seeding at a rate of 35g/m2

To complete these works we utilised several machines from our extensive fleet including:

• Amzone Groundkeeper
• Shelton 3T Universal sand and gravel hopper
• Campey Speedresser
• Mumby Star Seeder

Since our initial works we have been appointed by SSPC to carry out ongoing maintenance at Buckhurst Field to ensure the grass pitches were maintained at match standard for local junior football clubs including Robins FC. We are proud to have been involved with a community-focused projects that has transformed Buckhurst Field to provide much needed sport and play facilities. After five years of the football pitches at Buckhurst Field being inactive, South Swindon Parish Council seized the opportunity to reactivate them and enable football to be played once more. Robins FC, a local boys club and Spitfires FC, a local girls club will be the biggest beneficiaries with over 200 youth members between the two clubs. 

The playing surfaces were manipulated intensively by Fieldform and immediately looked much improved.
