Fieldform were approached by Valley Provincial to provide design support for the construction of a fine turf formal lawn as part of the prestigious Chelsea Barracks residential development. Following several design meetings and the submission of various proposals we were successfully appointed to carry out the following works:
The new lawn is uniquely positioned over an expansive subterranean leisure centre and provides residents with a vital green area within one of the most desirable addresses in central London. Although works took place in a very cold and wet December, works were made possible by constructing the new lawn over high density attenuation crates.
Construction works were carried out utilising company owned plant and equipment including various tractors, KUHN Power Harrow, Mumby Box Rake and Blec Turfmaker.
Chelsea Barracks was originally designed by renowned architect, George Morgan to house two battalions of infantry, the scheme was completed in 1862 and wasn’t vacated by the British army until 2008. The new development will provideĀ a new leisure centre, NHS medical centre, community centre and local shops. Fieldform are proud to have played our part in breathing new life into one of the most prestigious sites in Central London.
