Non-Turf Cricket Practice Nets

Following previous installations at several local cricket clubs across North Hampshire, Fieldform were appointed by Oakley CC near Basingstoke to design and build a new two lane practice facility.

During the design phase multiple locations were considered for the placement of the new nets. Following successful negotiations with a local landowner the Club decided to build the new practice facility on land directly adjacent to the main cricket ground. Fieldform worked closely with the Oakley CC committee to provide design plans and material samples that were used to secure planning permission from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council.

Design features of the new practice facility include:

• FFD dynamic sub base that has the ability to change playing characteristics depending on the prevailing weather
• Fully carpeted playing surface measuring 33m long to avoid interface issues with natural turf at the bowling end
• Full length shock pads
• 4m high galvanised steelwork
• FField Tunnel netting for each lane c/w integral PVC rodent skirts
• Concrete edges
• Drainage
• Decontamination area to ensure the new practice facility stays ‘clean and dry’

The finished facility has blended in perfectly with the surroundings providing the Club with an opportunity to develop their coaching programme and retain players within the Club.
